Dr. Michael B. Jackson was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. He graduated from the UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ in 2001 and continued his medical training as a psychiatric resident physician at Saint Vincent’s Hospital. In 2004, the psychiatry department named him chief resident of the program. After finishing  his residency, Dr. Jackson completed the forensic psychiatry fellowship at Saint Vincent’s Hospital.
Until very recently Dr. Jackson served as the Medical Director of the Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program and Co-Director of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship program at Saint Vincent’s Hospital, Manhattan.  Currently Dr. Jackson maintains affiliations with both New York University School of Medicine and UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he actively lectures and supervises fellows in their Forensic Psychiatry programs.

Dr. Jackson is board-certified in General and Forensic Psychiatry, and is licensed in both New York and New Jersey.  Dr. Jackson has testified in numerous cases on a wide variety of forensic and clinical  issues in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania courts.  Dr. Jackson has a particular specialization and expertise in the areas of civil competencies and addiction psychiatry.

Dr. Jackson frequently gives presentations and lectures on various topics in clinical and forensic psychiatry. His research interests include confidentiality and informed consent in relation to digital media. Dr. Jackson was awarded an Empire Clinical Research Investigator New York state grant to fund his research on Substance Induced Suicidality.
